bug: can't load comint version (matlab)

Sounds like a (K)ubuntu-specific problem, and it could be anything.
Best to ask on Kubuntu channels, and to find out if they have any
patches to XEmacs in their distribution.  Unfortunately, few distros
seem to have a policy of asking package maintainers to stay in touch
with upstream; I don't even know who the Kubuntu maintainer is.
