Ahh, the double prompt problem. This happens sometimes due to a race
condition.

It is fixed in the recent Tramp 2.1.12. You could try to install
it. Your workaround (don't check for end-of-buffer) is also applicable,
but a little bit weak, because Tramp could fail if the prompt appears
somewhere else in the data stream. In your case, it is not likely.

I hope we can uplift XEmacs' integrated Tramp package to the 2.1 release
line at last. Stephen, are there News about the GPLv3 issue?
