Not necessarily.  You should be able to cherry-pick the relevant
patch from the remote "xemacs" repo onto a local branch.

Mike, could you explain how to do this?

At present, yes.  There is little patch activity right now.  However,
there's no promise that that will not change on a moment's notice.
