vc-version-other-window, does not "respect" UTF-8

This sounds like a bug specific to the VC package, not a bug specific to
XEmacs. Ah, line 2610 vc.el; it doesn’t preserve the coding system used in
the original buffer. Is the bug addressed if you add a

(setq-default buffer-file-coding-system 'utf-8)

after you load the UTF-8 coding system in your ~/.xemacs/init.el ?
