[Bug: 21.4.19] vc can not visit older versions beside the first one

I tried out the new 1.43 from the pre-release.

Now it seems worse.

    -  I was used to the menu which poped up in tools-->vc this seems
       to be gone

    -  it seems that the command (I am not sure of its name since I
       used it all the time from the menu) vc-visit-older-version is
       gone as well.

So I don't now how to proceed other than to downgrade?
