Ok.  Wouldn't hurt to include ia64 in the changelog entry and the code 
comments as well :)

In case it's of use to someone, the other ia64 specific change in the Red Hat 
originated package is discussed here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/106744
...and the attached crude patch is applied in ia64 builds (only).
