(1) (xintl/error) Can't initialize XIM: XCreateIC failed

i'm using

[version 21.5.25 of February 2006 (+CVS-20060326)]

which is what came standard with suse 10.1

pardon me if this is the wrong place to post this error. if so, please
let me know which is the correct list.

the error I get every time i start xemacs is:

(1) (xintl/error) Can't initialize XIM: XCreateIC failed

i'm not sure what xintl xim xcreateic are, but bfrom googling, it
seems they are related to Japanese features, which I do not have need
of in the near future.

otherwise, google has not been of any help in fixing this myself.

any recommendations would be appreciated.
