xmine is broken too.   But the other buttons in the customize window
show up ok.  I think those are png's too.

I wonder if it's related to the png lib that I use.  macports updated
the png lib a few weeks ago when I installed some other package.

Ah, it might be.  In the *Warnings* buffer among the 5000+ messages, I
see this:

(1) (png/info) Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.2.44

(2) (png/info) Application  is  running with png.c from libpng-1.4.5

(3) (png/info) Incompatible libpng version in application and library

I guess I need to correct that.  Sorry for the noise!
