If you successfully download the package via HTTP and install it,
ignore the problem with FTP.

We should have switched to HTTP by default a long time ago, but a lack
of time for developing new code and a lack of license compatibility to
borrow from GNU combined to make that difficult.  We (mostly me)
should be able to get to work on a GPLv3 release within a week, and
then we can start synching GNU code again.
