Hi Uwe, 

I saw this routinely before the move to Mercurial, and still see it when I
deal with the packages. To minimise its impact, try to specify on the
command line those files, and only those files, that you’re dealing with
(avoid examining the whole directory tree, and use patcher-mail-subproject,
not patcher-mail, if you’re using patcher) ; also, network topography seems
to influence it as well, so if you have access to a machine in a very
different geographical location, try accessing from there, and it may be
usefully faster.

Everyone else; I’d love if we moved the packages to Mercurial.
