XEmacs 21.5 beta and FC 9 preview

I did read your post in the archive but it didn’t seem to apply to me.
On my linux system there is a /usr/share/fonts directory with several
sub-directories which all together contain a huge amount of fonts:

mfabian at magellan:~$ fc-list : file | wc 
   3413    3683  138337
mfabian at magellan:~$

I.e. I have 3413 font files installed. The /usr/share/fonts/truetype
directory alone contains 909 font files:

mfabian at magellan:~$ fc-list : file | grep usr/share/fonts/truetype | wc 
    909     912   38611
mfabian at magellan:~$

Nevertheless, XEmacs doesn’t consume huge amounts of memory while
starting but only much later when I am already using if for many hours
or even days.

I have lots of crashes as well but all of them seem to be in the new
garbage collector, always the same backtrace:
