New modeline glitches under cygwin

On the linux box I have:

(face-background 'modeline)

(face-background 'modeline-mousable)
#<color-specifier global=((default) . [#<face modeline "modeline face">]) fallback=#<color-specifier global=(((custom) . "grey85") "gray97" ((default x) . "gray80")) fallback=(((tty) . []) ((x) . "white")) 0x4068> 0x370ec>

There is the subtle difference between different grays/greys. Have I
configured it that way or has it changed?
