Ah, thanks for the info.  I've synced the version in XEmacs packages CVS with 
5.24, it'll probably hit the experimental packages area soon.

By the way, in case you're interested in helping out with maintaining 
cperl-mode.el in XEmacs packages CVS and have time for that, drop us a note; 
we'd be delighted to set up an account for you.
