recursive edebug-eval-defun till a certain level?????

May be this is a lisp programmers (wet) dream (or nightmare):
according to the documentation 
edebug-eval-defun only debugs the top-level of a given function. 

However I think it might be very useful that the debugging includes
several levels  more.

Does anybody know about a package doing this?
