[Bug: 21.5-b28] XEmacs/gnus refuses to open newsgroup with identical messages

Is there an error message?  If so, please post it.

If not, then probably X?Emacs is doing what it was told to do, and the
problem is in Gnus, which we can fix in XEmacs packages but would
prefer to have a solution that is developed by a core Gnus worker.

Have you reported this to ding at gnus.org and emacs-devel at gnu.org?
