He didn't mention on the VM newsgroup that he took over; he was very
busy to get the new release out at all, and then took his time to
react to users (very quickly, I want to add). As a VM user myself, I
was very happy that this happened, VM started to bitrot concerning
current demands that one has for a MUA.

But I know that XEmacs is his primary Emacs version, so maybe one can
convince him to maintain the package at cvs.xemacs.org as well. (When
he's back, and when the dotsrc.org server is up and running again.) He
wrote an announcement that he's offline until end of October; if you
want I can ask him then. (I read the VM newsgroups anyhow.)

Best,
	Joachim
