Dear all,

in the latest version of 21.5.27, and 21.5.28 compiled with under
opensuse 10.2 (gcc4.1) with-xft=all, I noticed the following inconvenience:
font changes using (set-deault-font '"Tahoma") ; my favorite screen font
result in an immediate change of the default face and all other faces.
utilizing (set-face-font 'default '"Tahoma") behaves different, no
changes in the (selected-frame) but in all other locales, e.g. other
open frames showing the same buffers.
in an elder version of 21.527-xft I was also able to compose a font with
the specification
(set-default-font '("Tahoma" "StarSymbol")) which filled in missing
characters of Tahoma with instances of Starsymbol when I used x-symbol
for instance. However now these characters do not appear anymore, try
e.g. \forall together with the attached file and (require
'x-symbol-startup).
Is it possible to achieve the previous state by using some sort of
specifier-tags for symbols? How would that look like??? Best regards

Stefan Holst
