Sorry for the confusion.  I struggled with crafting the message, and
after sending it, I was afraid that I hadn't given sufficient context

Sorry, too, for the confusion about LISPDIR.  I meant this LISPDIR:

the "\\e:" looks bogus to me.  In any case, something in the 21.5
startup code is looking for a file in the "e:" drive, which doesn't
exist on Sean's system.
