Setting progress-feedback-use-echo-area to t should get rid of this
crash.

You're using an ancient version of XEmacs.  Upgrading to a recent
version may help.  This bug is known, but I'm not sure if it has been
fixed.  There are other known bugs in that version; upgrading to
21.4.20 is strongly recommended.

BTW, your backtrace is essentially useless, since it doesn't have any
debugging information in it.  Keep sending them, of course; they're of
some help in localizing the bug if we don't already know about it.
However, if you want the most help in debugging problems with XEmacs
(or any open source project) you may benefit from building it
yourself, and enabling debugging.

Also, more recent builds on Red Hat and some other distros will
provide a debugging version of the XEmacs package, but I think this is
too old.
