Dear Ilya,

Sorry for taking so long to reply to this message but I haven't been able to
devote much time to XEmacs recently.

The problem you report is unfortunately a bug introduced into autoconf 2.60
and is located in the boilerplate code produced by autoconf, which makes it
difficult for us to fix. I have submitted a patch to the autoconf
developers, but in the meantime the only workaround is to ensure that
configure is generated by autoconf 2.59.

I'll add a reminder of this in the PROBLEMS file.

Thanks for the bug report.

Malcolm
