When I start XEmacs, I get on the originating terminal this:

initialized metrics ascent 12 descent 3 width 7 height 14
initialized font Bitstream Vera Sans Mono-12:weight=200
initialized metrics ascent 12 descent 3 width 7 height 14
    initialized font monospace-12
initialized metrics ascent 12 descent 3 width 7 height 14
initialized font Bitstream Vera Sans Mono-12:slant=110
initialized metrics ascent 7 descent 3 width 5 height 11
    initialized font -*-Adobe Garamond Pro-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-*
initialized metrics ascent 7 descent 3 width 5 height 11
    initialized font -*-Adobe Garamond Pro-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-*
initialized metrics ascent 9 descent 3 width 6 height 11
    initialized font -*-Bitstream Vera Sans
Mono-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-*
initialized metrics ascent 9 descent 3 width 6 height 11
    initialized font -*-Bitstream Vera Sans
Mono-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-*
initialized metrics ascent 11 descent 3 width 7 height 13
    initialized font -bitstream-bitstream vera sans
mono-medium-i-*-*-*-80-100-100-*-*-iso8859-1
    finalizing -*-Adobe Garamond Pro-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-*
    finalizing -*-Adobe Garamond Pro-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-*
    finalizing -*-Bitstream Vera Sans Mono-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-*

Where does "Adobe Garamond Pro" come from? I certainly don't set
anything with a variable width in my init files or in my xrdb
initialization file, and there's no string "Adobe Garamond Pro" in any
XEmacs source file, and I don't have "Adobe Garamond Pro" set in my
GNOME font settings, although I do have it installed (as a TrueType
font) on my system. (Phew!)

Can anyone explain or point me to an explanation?

Thanks.
