Anyone building with mingw?

Recently (mostly for personal edification) I've tried to build XEmacs
21.4 to run under mingw. I've run into several problems - enough that
I have to wonder whether the FAQ answer:

Q6.1.5: How do I compile using MinGW (aka `the -mno-cygwin flag to gcc')?

Similar to the method for Unix. Things to remember:

    * Specify the target host on the command line for `./configure',
e.g. `./configure i586-pc-mingw32'.

    * Be sure that your build directory is mounted such that it has
the same path either as a cygwin path (`/build/xemacs') or as a
Windows path (`c:\build\xemacs').

    * Build `gcc -mno-cygwin' versions of the extra libs, i.e.
`libpng', `compface', etc.

    * Specify the target location of the extra libs on the command
line to `configure', e.g. `./configure --site-prefixes=/build/libs
i586-pc-mingw32'.

is accurate. Before I cite chapter and verse on my difficulties, I
thought I'd ask if anyone has successfully build XEmacs under mingw
recently. If so, can you show me a recipe?

Thanks,
  Vin
