More or less, I tried that several month ago and run into trouble
precisely with preview-latex. Unfortunately my workload did not
allow me to continue with my attempt. I thought may be this
summer, but as things are it is very unlikely that before the
beginning of September I will find the time to give it another
try. So anybody with more skills and time is more than welcome to
try it. [1]

[1] Btw I tried the xemacs pkg (I think it was 11.81 but I
am not sure) as catered by the auctex team and also run into
problems. It is most unfortunate that I even do not had/have the
time to send a decent bug report)
