Yeah, that’s why I preferred to use “doch,” with clarification for those who
don’t speak German. There’s no good way to express what “doch” says there
(or “si” says in French) in English, without going into pantomime--of
course, our American friends may not be familiar with pantomime, and so “oh
yes it is” may have no childish undertones for them at all.

little fucked-up with regard to how to translate “seit” or “depuis” or many
other Central and Western European words for the same thing.]
