I seem to recall these may be associated with specific window
managers.  Also, there were some fixes to the X code since "Portable
Code", you might try upgrading.

If you've got a little bit of time, though, we'd really appreciate
that backtrace that Ben requested.  This bug has never been properly
diagnosed or localized.

If you have a debug (or at least unstripped) build, you might be able
to get the backtrace under gdb without abort()ing by inserting a
breakpoint in the right place.  I run under gdb for weeks at a time;
it consumes a little bit of system resources (and turns a Ctrl-Z on a
remote TTY line into a showstopper unless you tell gdb to pass that
signal to xemacs ;-) but otherwise I see no ill effects.
